Hartranft</persName> & <persName key="Col Bell" ref="https://raw.githubusercontent.com/BucknellDSC/jmlinn/refs/heads/main/jmlinn_personography.xml">Col Bell</persName> happened to go away, and we were ordered to drill the manual. It was <name type="weather">exceedingly cold</name>, so we had to double quick to get warm. Unfortunately for me <persName key="Gen Reno" ref="https://raw.githubusercontent.com/BucknellDSC/jmlinn/refs/heads/main/jmlinn_personography.xml">Gen Reno</persName> came on to the <objectName type="equipment">drill</objectName> ground just as the other companies were gone, but I was still there, & he saw us go into the <objectName type="equipment">manual.</objectName> I apologized by stating that we never got our <objectName type="equipment">muskets</objectName> until the day we left <placeName key="Harrisburg" ref="https://raw.githubusercontent.com/BucknellDSC/jmlinn/refs/heads/main/jmlinn_gazetteer.xml">Harrisburg</placeName>, & we had to pay most attention to marching to keep up with the Regiment. He made the remark to<persName key="Col Bell" ref="https://raw.githubusercontent.com/BucknellDSC/jmlinn/refs/heads/main/jmlinn_personography.xml"> Col Bell </persName>that we must drill more in the manual, & mentioned<orgName key="Company H"> Co. H.</orgName> I felt badly all day about it. He caught <persName>the Col</persName> & <persName>Lt Col </persName>as bad, absent from camp. He inspected Adjutant <objectName type="readable">Bible</objectName> dry. Bible is a fellow that don't know anything and knows too much. <persName key="Gen Hatch">The Gen</persName> stood us up wonderfully.
