            <dateline><placeName>Annapolis, Maryland, Camp Burnside November</placeName> — <origDate>Friday, Thursday 22, 1861</origDate></dateline>
            <p xml:id="a1">This is a bright fair day. We got up about seven, breakfast, company drill, dress parade, supper brought &amp; is quickly through &amp; evening. Visited over to see our sick — <persName>Henry Miller, Hogan &amp; Kelly</persName> in the hospital. Sent them <objectName>tea and toast</objectName>. The hospital situation and the hospital arrangements are far from comfortable. Besides them lay <persName>Charles Drainer,</persName> weakened down with a severe hemorrhage, &amp; not long for this world. He was with our company in the three months service &amp; was lately in <placeName>Hagerstown.</placeName> He has been discharged in the service, went out into town to inquire for <persName>Mrs. Monroe,</persName> but since he has moved away to take charge of a school at <placeName>Frederick.</placeName> His brother <persName>Harry </persName>has now charge of the seminary. Col. <persName>Hartshorne’s lady</persName> was here this evening. The Col. returned from <placeName>Washington</placeName> this evening.</p>
