Description
"The Firehole River was so called not because it traverses the region of the great geysers, but from the fact that in early days a forest fire devastated a large area along its banks, which by the trappers and pioneers was called 'Burnt Hole.' We follow up this stream a few miles to the Lower Geyser Basin, where the large geysers and the Mammoth Paint Pots are seen."
