Description
"Upon approaching this geyser basin, where hundreds of steam vents and geysers are seen, one gets the impression of a large manufacturing center. The principal geysers are the New Crater, the Monoarch, the Whirligig, and the Valentine. This basin is in its primitive state save for sidewalks and paths which lead to its principal features. The roaring and hissing of steam and sulphurorus odors excite in one a natural feeling of caution."
