The morning we spent at bayo<objectName type="equipment"/>net exercise - this afternoon Regimental drill. <persName>Col Nagle</persName> was here to make his affidavit for pay - he is an essential dutchman though fine looking and said to be a fine drill master. He has a queer high toned voice with a squawk to it- he pronounces rather oddly - speaking of some thing he said it was his “Karculation”. <persName>Capt Pollock</persName> was here – now a first Lieutenant – the commission <persName>Lt Col. Sigfried</persName> sent back was returned and the Capt and 1st Lieutenant resigning 3 days after he received a commission as 1st Lieutenant. <persName>Lt. Col. Sigfried</persName> refused to assign him to duty, but <persName>Col. Nagele</persName> took it in hand and assigned him. He talked of resigning, but I advised him not do it. There is a feeling because he as a corporal was promoted over the heads of sergeants. <persName>Vandine</persName> was announced as 1st sergeant & <persName>Billy Allison</persName> as sergeant – corporal not filled. </p> </div> </body> </text> </TEI>
