Monday 30. 1861.</date></date></dateline> <p>We discovered today that we misunderstood the order; that it was that <persName>Commander of Regiments</persName> should hold themselves in readiness to march on twelve hours notice. So we spent the day as usual in drill. On Saturday, the Regiment received new coats - & now look like soldiers, and make a fine appearance. <persName key="Frank Beale">Frank Beale</persName> returned from <placeName key="Washington, DC">Washington,</placeName> and bid us goodbye. I sent my <objectName type="clothing">gold watch</objectName> home with him, and bought his<objectName type="clothing"> silverwatch</objectName>: paid him in full for it - $20. <persName key="Tom Grier">Tom Grier</persName> has been detailed as clerk to the Assistant Adjutant<persName key="Gen.
