            <dateline><date>Wednesday 25</date>.</dateline>
            <p>This was a <name type="weather">bright fine day</name>. Some of the <orgName type="organization">companies</orgName> went into town under charge of a
               commissioned officer. We had almost a rebellion because we declined doing it. It
               was very fortunate we didn't. They had a dreadful row in town - some hundred of
               our men getting drunk, and having a free fight in the centre opening behind the
               <orgName type="church">Episcopal church. </orgName><persName>Gen. Reno</persName>, I hear, was drunk, got knocked down twice and a
               tooth knocked out. The dress parade was slim owing to so many absences. The detail
               from our Regiment was happily relieved today and returned to camp. We presented
               each of our men with a pair of <objectName type="clothing">white gloves</objectName>. They looked quite fine on dress
               parade. They appear to be satisfied that they did not get to town, especially when
               they saw that the<persName> Col. </persName>collected all the <objectName type="equipment">old barrels</objectName> in camp, and made the drunk
               party shoulder them, and walk the sing. <persName key="Lieutenant Colonel Thomas H. Beaver">Beaver</persName> &amp;<persName> <persName key="Captain William H. Shorkley">Shorkly</persName></persName> went to town
               this evening.</p>
