            <dateline>Saturday 21st</dateline>
            <p>A bright day, but much colder. This evening on dress parade I felt the cold strike
               across my feet considerably. We finished The testimony of the <placeName>Court of Inquiry</placeName>
               about one o'clock. Maggi in despite of his indignant protest of yesterday,
               [because?] <persName>Lt Col Monteil</persName> was put in close arrest, was back as counsel. We had
               <persName>Capt Allabaugh</persName> and <persName>Capt Bell</persName> at our tent to tea this evening. Had roast
               chicken. <persName>Col Bell</persName> was in and told us that there were 19 transports lying in the
               bay. This looks favorable for our speedy departure. <persName>Gen Reno</persName>, a Pennsylvanian, is
               the Commander of our Brigade. Do we have 3 regulars of the finest reputation:
               Burnside, Foster and Reno - who was instructor of infantry tactics at <orgName>West Point</orgName>.
               <persName>Col. Hartranft</persName> told us that he had received a letter from the paymaster stating
               he would be here to pay us off on Monday. <persName>Lt Col. Potter</persName> is a son of Bishop Potter
               of Pennsylvania, of the <orgName>Episcopal Church</orgName>.</p>
