            <dateline><date>Saturday 24</date>.</dateline>
            <p><name type="weather">The morning was dark and lowering</name>. This afternoon <persName key="Jacob G. Beaver" ref="https://raw.githubusercontent.com/BucknellDSC/jmlinn/refs/heads/main/jmlinn_personography.xml#jmlper003">Beaver</persName> and I started for
               town, met <persName key="John Morris" ref="https://raw.githubusercontent.com/BucknellDSC/jmlinn/refs/heads/main/jmlinn_personography.xml#jmlper057">Morris</persName> who brought us back in his buggy, but <name type="weather">a heavy rain came on - we went afterwards between cloud bursting. The rain continued at intervals during the night</name>. We went down again this evening. The <objectName type="ship">steamer Burnside</objectName> is
               expected in today, but has not arrived we expect a large mail by her, as the
<placeName key="Fort Monroe" ref="https://raw.githubusercontent.com/BucknellDSC/jmlinn/refs/heads/main/jmlinn_gazetteer.xml#linnpl037"> Fortress Monroe</placeName> mails were sent back to <placeName>New York.</placeName> </p>
