				</opener>
				
					Well, another week has passed and
					I'm still waiting to be called to start Officer's
					 Canidate School.  I'm beginning to get used
					to the idea that I may have a long wait. 
					But it shouldn't be longer than 10 more
					weeks anyway.
				
				
					This was a varied and somewhat
					interesting week. We went out on overnite
					hike Tuesday. It poured all night and
					the pup tent didn't provide too much
					protection. I was surprised, however, to
					discover how good it really was. We
					walked back Tuesday morning in another
					cloudburst -- and our 65 lb packs took
					on about another 10 lbs in water. However,
					outside of being tired and muddy there
					were no ill effects. I didn't even get a
								
					cold.
				
				
					Twice we were out practicing driving
					the big trucks again. I qualified, and
					my army license was issued to me. I'm
					now licensed to drive anything in the
					truck line that the army has -- but of course I'll
					be driving  the 4 ton Diamond T most.
				
				
					This noon at 12:00 I went on
					Assistant Charge of Quarters. I'm on duty
					til tomorrow (Sunday) at 12:00. My duties
					consist of: answering the phone, sitting in
					the orderly room, awakening the K.P.'s and
					the men on guard, posting the guard,
					 issuing passes, etc. It's a long haul
					with no sleep. But they give me my
					meals early and there is plenty of time for
					writing letters -- so it's not so bad.
				
				
					I had a letter from Tommy +
					Agnes and one from Allen and
					 Mary. -- Mother and Dad are coming
					me in uniform.
					down on the 6th. I bet they won't know
					me in uniform.
