This is the essay Gandhi wrote and published in his newspaper Young India to call upon the women of India to join in the nationwide nonviolent anticolonial campaign in the immediate aftermath of the Salt March in 1930. He first tasked his female coresidents from Sabarmati Ashram with leading boycotts against foreign cloth and liquor, and then published this essay calling upon women throughout the nation to join them.
