in the 48th, was on board yesterday. One of the funniest things that has occurred is <persName subtype="Dick" cert="high" key="Dick Coulter" ref="https://raw.githubusercontent.com/BucknellDSC/jmlinn/refs/heads/main/jmlinn_personography.xml#jmlper025" type="real">Dick's</persName> last merchantile transaction. He bought a box of <objectName>cigars</objectName>, 100, of the sutler for five dollars, and went upstairs and commenced selling them out at 3 cents apiece. The sutler went up after while and told him he was losing 2 cents on every <objectName>cigar</objectName>. He was astounded and sold at 6, then became disgusted and sold at five. He managed to get out with losing 25 cents, according to his own account. He paid that much for his experience and will probably not embark on any more. We parted our cable <time>this morning</time> in trying to get clear of a bark, and got aground, and spent most of <time>the morning</time> trying to get loose. We are still aground. <persName subtype="Reno">Reno</persName> said we must be over the swash t<time>omorrow morning</time>, and <time>this evening</time>, we are [onclad?] to get out, arms and acoustic [events?] on board some tugs who are to take us over. Another <objectName type="vehicle">gunboat</objectName> was sunk today, so we have lost two <objectName type="vehicle">gunboats</objectName>, a <objectName type="vehicle">schooner</objectName> or two - several <objectName type="vehicle">ships</objectName> are fast aground. <persName role="Reporter" subtype="Carpenter">Mr Carpenter</persName> reports for [?], was on board <time>this morning</time>. Also <persName role="Captain" subtype="Potts">Capt.
