Information plaque at Phoenix Settlement. This is the first of a half dozen such information plaques that are placed around this heritage site to provide historical information to visitors. This one describes Gandhi's decision to found this intentional community in 1904, and features a photo of Gandhi and Kasturba. A view of the Inanda Valley region can bee seen beyond the fenceline of the settlement.
