 <head><hi rend="bold">INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING THE PERSON TEMPLATE</hi></head>
 
 Please follow these instructions for creating a TEI personography that can be used for conversion in XTriples. 
 All of your work will be done in the listPerson element structure below. Replace placeholder text with your personography information. 
 <list>
 <head><hi rend="bold">Preparation:</hi> To prepare LEAF-Writer environment for creating your personography</head>
 <item>In LEAF-Writer toolbar, click "Show tags" button. This will help you to see the secion you are creating.</item>
 <item>Activate the "Markup" panel on the left side of screen</item>
 <item>Activate the "Raw XML" panel on the right side of screen</item>
 </list>
 <list>
 <head><hi rend="bold">Person URI:</hi> To provide a URI for person from existing authority source:</head>
 <item>Right-click (control-click) on the standard persName element</item>
 <item>Choose "Convert to Entity Annotation"; from lookup, choose the authority file that aligns with your research</item>
 </list>
 <list>
 <head><hi rend="bold">Birth/Death Information:</hi> to add a machine-readable date value:</head>
 <item>Right-click (control-click) on the birth/date or death/date element</item>
 <item>Replace when="1234" with a date in YYYY-MM-DD format</item>
 </list>

 <head><hi rend="bold">Sex/Gender URI:</hi> To add authority term for sex element</head>
 <item>Right-click (control-click) on the sex element</item>
 <item>Choose "Edit tag"; for value attribute, type your preferred term; for source attribute, input the URI for a vocabulary that aligns with your research</item>
 <item>Note that you will need to replace placeholder text within those attribute fields</item>
