Dear Mother + Dad --

If this letter seems slightly incoherent, it's because I'm mentally exhausted and dead tired. So far this has been a terrific week. We finished Communications Tuesday with 3 heavy exams in one afternoon, went to a two hour lecture by a Colonel just back from assignment until 12:00. Guadacanal that night and then studied the Tactics assignment until 12:00.

Last night we were permitted to go to the USO sponsored show "Hellsapoppin" -- featuring Joan Blondell in person. Of course, I went -- and agains stayed up til 12:00 working on today's assignments. Getting up at six and going to bed at 12:00 - with not a moment to even sit down in between is really tiring.

My communications grades were quite good. I'm sorry I didn't ask to go to Communications instead of Survey School I got all 5's and all three papers were stamped. "An excellent solution." One paper was so stamped twice -- and the 3rd was stamped 3 times.

Tactics is very interesting, but there is just simply too much to cover. By 7:00 at night I'm ready for bed, instead of a 4hr study hall session.

Now to answer your letters! Your card mailed on Tuesday at one arrived here this morning, Thursday. (Two days -- best time yet!) I shall try to listen in -- but I doubt if I can pick up WJ2 way out here. Fortunately one of the fellows in the hut has a radio so I at least have the facilities.

Brownell leaves here next Thursday -- a week from Today. He's stopping in Altoona on the way in to see his girl. If I come by train I'm going to make the same arrangements to has made. I'd get into Lbg. on the 6:00 milk train Sat. morn. He's coming over to see me before he goes -- and I asked him to drop around and see you when he's home.

Thanks for the tap about the store in Hbg., Dasl. I may use it, if I can't pick up what d need here. of est lncle tom really wants to work out a schedile for me. I'm free here at man on the 18th. I think there is a train out of Opla. City for St. Louis at 4:10. That's the one I think I'll take. Ask him to find out about sleeper or Pullman for me for Thursday night - for I'll really be tried.

Sarry to hear about Mrs. Mohm. How S. 3rd St. has changed in the past 3 years. I can hardly realize it.

Thank you very much for the money order. As you know, money always comes in handly

The letter from Jacobson N.Y. that you forwarded was a wedding invitation. les Chitney and his B.U. fleine - March 13th I'd like to send them a little gift. Les was always a good friend and had a hard stiggle - and Joan tehtiö, että eivän ia.

Will you please pick out something for me, and send it to her home. You can get the address by calling the alumni office, probably. Her name is Joan Davidson and she graduated in '40. I think she lives in Jackson Heights.

Thanks a lot. Love, John

P. S. only 20 more days until this is over!
