Our company was paid off today. Shorkly received some 84 dollars, but Beaver & I got none, as they paid out to the 1st of November & we were not mustered in until the 16th of November. The first lieutenant received pay from the time he mustered in, but it was when we had 41 men, although not actually mustered in. We got in this afternoon and made our payrolls for Nov. & Dec - This evening, Beaver Tom and I went into Annapolis. It was more lively than I ever seen it. We went to an Episcopal service. The church is very beautiful inside, with arches and stained windows, and the evergreen decorations were beautifully contrasted on the chaste white walls. The children sang a Christmas carol after the service.
