Description

This poster has the image of a tattered American flag at half-mast blowing in the wind. There is a large plume of smoke behind the flag with blue skies and clouds visible next to the smoke. Fire is visible in the lower right-hand corner of the poster. The artist, Allen Saalburg, was born in Rochelle, Illinois on June 25, 1899. Throughout his life, Saalburg painted a variety of subjects, but focused mainly on landscapes, American architecture, and industry. Allen Saalburg died in Rochelle, Illinois in 1974.
