Description
Gandhi and seventy-eight coresidents from Sabarmati Ashram leading the Salt March in 1930. The Salt March launched a nationwide anticolonial civil disobedience campaign. Gandhi hand-picked coresidents to accompany him throughout the duration of the march whom he felt represented the regional and religious diversity of India, and who had taken lifelong vows to observe nonviolence and celibacy.
