The Kochrab Bungalow was where Gandhi and approximately twenty-five coresidents who had come to India from Gandhi's communities in South Africa lived from 1915-1917, before purchasing the land to build Sabarmati Ashram. This bungalow was loaned to Gandhi by a patron and fellow lawyer, Jivanlal Desai.
