On January 14th, 1559, the day prior to her coronation, Elizabeth processes through London, starting at the Tower of London and ending at Westminster Abbey where her coronation would take place. Throughout this procession, the people of London presented five allegorical pageants for Elizabeth representing her family history and the virtues necessary to rule. The Worshipful Companies of London were heavily involved in this procession, both through raising funds for the pageants and performances and through their presence throughout the pageant route. This map displays the route taken by Elizabeth, as well as explaining the stops along the route where pageants would be presented and the guild members who were present at these stops.
