Gandhi and Kasturba returning to India in 1915 after living in South Africa for twenty-one years.  Approximately 25 of his coresidents from South Africa joined him in moving from South Africa to India. Thus one of Gandhi's first actions upon returning to India in 1915 was to found a new intentional community in his home state of Gujarat.
