<salute> Dear, Mother, Dad & Grandma -- </salute></opener>

I've finished my stint for the day, but still have two hours to waste here in
the office before I can go home - so I'm writing to you on Uncle Sam’s time.

I'm answering your last Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday letter- the last just
arrived a moment ago. I'm glad you enjoyed the flowers & that Alice enjoyed
hers too. I went to the florist here in Rawton and wired them. I asked for an
Easter lily, but I suppose Stein's didn’t have them. And I thought Alice might
like cut flowers best, because she always got so very many plants. I hope they
were all right. The tulips must have been or you certainly wouldn't have loaned
 them to the church.

In one of your letters you say Grandma is so well. I'm glad, for I know how hard
it is when she isn't her self.

I mailed a viewbook of Ft. Sill yesterday. It should give you a bit of an idea
of what the place is like.

The application photos have not arrived, but I suppose they will be along soon.
I've just about distributed all of the 1st dozen. But You shouldn't be so nosy,
Dad! Poor Jean didn’t have a copy of my picture when she was home. I just sent
her one over the week end. And for heaven's sake don't go getting ideas. We're
 just good friends.

I see in the Bucknellian that Gene Edmunds is an Aviation Cadet at Napier Field
Ala. I dropped him a line, but of course haven't head anything from him yet.

I had a letter from Dave today. He's so afraid he won't get to O.C.S. And it
won't help any that he's in "limited service." I hope he makes it. He
says he's due for a furlough soon, so I suppose you'll be seeing him. He also
passed on the good news that Don Henning had been made a Warrant Officer in the
Marines. And Dave has had his 1st at promotion - he's now a Corporal.

The sunburn I acquired last Sunday certainly is a beauty. You know I never know
when I've had enough. My whole right side is scarlet - and I have had to sleep
on my stomach for 2 nights. However, it is a lot better today and I'll probably
be ready to tan next time I go out - so it's worth it.

I guess FDR didn’t stop here – for we heard nothing about it. Sect. of War
Stimpson was here yesterday and they had a big shoot for >him on the West range.
Our windows shook all morning from the concusion of big guns.

Hope Dad had a good time, up at the "cottage" – although what there is
 up there, I’ll never know.

I had an Easter card from Maude. I'll have to try to remember & send her a
 card. It would please her.

I think I shall get dressed after supper. and head for town and a movie tonight.
Tomorrow night I have Study Hall again - and last night we had our review class
 in Gunnery.

I had a Bucknellian in one of my classes this week. I knew I'd seen him
 somewhere before, & sure enough - he's a Shamokin boy - didn't finish B.U. -
ex'42 - SPE - His name is Malcolm Feuntg. I think he was in the band. We had a
chat & I’ll probably see him again. I look over each class, but this is the
1st time I've found any familiar face.
