               <salute>Dear Colonel Wolfe --</salute>
            </opener>
<p>I thank you for your fine letter. I shall try to profit by your advice. I have
received a great many cards and letters from the members of Charity Lodge. It
makes me very proud to be a member and renews my resolve to be worthy of my
					affiliation. </p>
<p> Having just finished by basic training and a four-week prep course at Center
School here, I am now ready to move off to Ft. Sill. Most of my
"buddies" are shipping tomorrow, but being a "Z", I shall
have to wait another week. </p>
<p> Center School pack into one month more than I thought could possibly be learned
in a month. We covered the basic elements at least of firing battery K
transfers, meteo message, rapid preparation of fire, and survey. Gunnery looked
at first as though it might prove difficult, but by now I've learned what
was expected of axial conduct of fire, and large and small T. </p>

<p> And of cause we had army administration, military law, and dismounted drill too.
You'll probably agree that it was quite an intensive schedule -- and it
should make Ft. Sill a bit less difficult. One hears only praise for Ft. Sill,
and so, of course, I'm more than anxious to get there. I'm sure I
shall find it interesting, for I'm more than in love with field artillery
					now. </p>
