I was awfully disappointed that
things turned out as they did this week-end.
Monday, the 1st Sgt. told us not to plan
for this week-end because guard was
due. So I told Mother + Dad not to come.
As it turns out, I didn't draw guard
anyway, - but next week-end will
do just as well. I hope nothing happens
this time.

I had my interview for O.C.S.
this week -- and passed, I'm sure. I
still have to take the physical. If I pass
I'll be a 2nd Lt. in field artillery
within 5 months. And if I can't pass

the physical, I still have a chance to
get a commission in Army administration.

This morning at inspection the
officer pointed to me and remarked to
the Sgt., "There's a good looking soldier."
A few words like that do a lot to
boost morale.

This coming week we are to
concentrate on firing the 30 cal. machine gun. It should be very
interesting. I suppose I'll be going
for my physical too. And with
Mother + Dad coming over the
week-end, it really should turn out
to be a big week.

P.S. There is a fellow from shamokin here whose name is Yaffe. I noticed in the Item
that a Yaffee in Shamokin is up for bankrupty. Do you suppose it's his father?
