<salute>Dear Mother, Dad + Grandma-</salute>
 </opener>

I haven't had hayfever for so long, I almost forget what it's like. However, I
have had several slight colds. I have one now. You see I sleep right under a
window and the cold air blowing over me gives me the sniffles. I get over them
easily though -- with no serious consequences.

Right now I'm having trouble with my left ankle. I must have sprained it
slightly or else I've pulled a ligament. Anyway it's swollen a bit and feels
quite sore. I'm trying to stay off of it as much as I can -- maybe it will be
all right tomarrow. If it's not, I'm going to have it taped. These high/shoes
& leggings rub against it too, and help to irritate.

Thanks for the wooden hangers and for the canned goods. Both came in handy.
Incidently, while I think of it the boys liked your sugar cookies immensely,
 Mother.

The candy from The Bairity hasn't arrived as yet, but I suppose it will today or
tomorrow. What is Murray Remers address? I feel sorry for him. I hope it works
out all right. Did Sid Appfelbaum ever return my law school briefs and
abstracts? I told him he could have the other ones I had for his use and he
promised to return them when he was finished.

I would suggest that you folks come down to see me around the end of Oct. or
beginning of Nov. -- whenever it's convenient to you. And by all means come by
train. Our tires aren't good enough for so long a jaunt.

I can't get off anytime except on weekends -- so if you want to see me, you'll
have to be away from the store on Saturday, Dad. I can make reservations at the
Guest House here - or you could stay in Fayettsville -- which ever you want.

I don't remember whether I told you or not -- but I had a letter from Cousin Emma. Yes, I could read it. If I could need her's, you don't need to wory about
 my reading yours, Dad.

I feel a lot better about the new place now. The officers and non-coms aren't
nearly as fine as at the old place -- and the work is less interesting. But the
fellows are even better. And we won't be here forever. I wouldnt be at all
surprised, if we were to start Center school within 4 to 6 weeks.

I certainly drew duty this week. I was on K. P. one day, and on room orderly the
next. Last night I walked guard for two hours -- ten to twelve. Monday night and
 all day Tuesday.

I'm on Howitzer Park Guard. If anyone comes on my post and doesn't halt when I
order them to -- I shoot! We walk two hours and are off four, for the twenty
four hours beginning Monday at five.

I see Bucknell and Temple tied, 7-7. The team must be pretty good this year
again. I slept til nine this morning. It was a grand and glorious feeling to stay

in bed that long. Then I got up & went to the Service Club for breakfast. I
ate with a Corporal from F-10 who had a cousin at Bucknell last year. He ^ the
cousin was a Sigma Chi and is engaged to Ronnie Green who is President of Honor House this year.

After that I went to church -- I'm inclosing the program. Church was over at
11:00 and I came back to the barracks to write letters and wait for dinner.

My friend Jerry back in F-10 has been made battery photographer. His promised to
take my picture as soon as his equipment arrives. I'll send it off to you when I
 get it.

We expect to go into winter uniform this week. Then I shall see how the wool
effects me. Today it is a bit chilly -- but it has been hot. before this -- and
I imagine it will be again. My guess is that we won't have any real use for
overcoats, however, unless we go north.
